The debut series of the Luz y Ligera Project uses the classic medium of silhouette to create portraits of people who have shared their experiences of burden and peace. Light plays a distinct role, creating a clear but simple image. The edges are created when light bends around the object showing each individual has a special line; a unique reflection of light yet with an inherent similarity.
The edges not only contain what we feel inside but illuminate the essential interplay with the seemingly contrasting world. The distinction is an illusion, without one there would be no other. What we put out into the world radiates beyond our own image, and we are more than what surrounds us.
These silhouettes hope to highlight a delicate, bold and beautiful repose amidst gloom and anxiety of the present moment. Follow along!
